About this qualification

This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage and lead others in adult health and social care provision in Northern Ireland.

This qualification is formed of mandatory and optional units.

The mandatory units cover a wide range of topics including:

• safeguarding and protection
• partnership working
• professional development
• providing a supportive environment for individuals to achieve positive outcomes
• complying with quality systems and continuously improving quality
• carrying out policy
• promoting and developing best practice
• team management.

Who is it suitable for?

The Adult Management pathway is most suitable for managers who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 19 or above to undertake this qualification.

How is this qualification structured?

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 72 credits from the Adult Management mandatory units and a minimum of 18 credits from the Adult Management optional units.

When registering learners, centres should use the qualification number (QN) followed by the relevant pathway code:

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?

Learners will need to be working in the role of a manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with this role.
